Cuckoo clocks are no longer what they used to be. And that's a good thing! The emancipated bird of the world has staked a claim to its own dwelling, strictly separated from clock and hands. After a thorough renovation, the wooden hut has been replaced by two maximally minimalist cases made of chrome-plated steel. The clockwork is silent; for a change, it works without any ticking. Batteries replace the obligatory pinecone weights—winding (which is constantly forgotten) is no longer necessary. Hanging on the wall or alternatively standing on a table, one thing remains: it chirps once every hour. You can’t do without that much bird! And thankfully, depending on the setting, it can also be turned off at night. Then, there is peace in the box.
